What You’ll Be Doing
As an Automation Engineer, you will report to the Head of Electrical and manage the day-to-day maintenance of the cement plant control and software systems to ensure high levels of programming integrity. You will also be responsible for the safe modification and maintenance of plant automation and control systems by ensuring robust specification, application programming, testing, and commissioning are in place.
On a day-to-day basis, your key responsibilities will include (but aren’t limited to):
* Preventing downtime due to control system faults
* Supporting the installation of new plant equipment from conception to operation
* Assuring the integration of new systems into plant operations
* Assisting the Head of Electrical with the development, review, and implementation of control systems Standard Operating Procedures
* Ensuring robust risk assessment processes exist to understand the control measures necessary
* Working on the development of server virtualization to assist with testing program modifications
* Assisting in the management of new CAPEX projects and supporting their commissioning
* Ensuring the control and software systems are managed using a continuous improvement methodology

Ideally, you will:
* Develop close working relationships with control room operators to assist them with system control issues and queries
* Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
* Communicate and liaise with other departments and form cross-functional links
