We are an expanding GP surgery inHorsham looking to recruit a caring and enthusiastic Senior Health CareAssistant to join our exceptionally friendly and hard-working nurse team due tothe previous post-holder relocating. The post holder will provide care andsupport to our patients by undertaking a range of delegated clinical tasks, aswell as assisting with the administration of patient cohorts, for example the bookingof patient appointments for long-term health conditions.
The hours on offer are negotiable forthe right candidate but as an example:
* Mondays DAY OFF
* Tuesdays - 07:00 to 17:30 - 1 hour lunch
* Wednesdays - 07:00 to 17:30 - 1 hour lunch
* Thursdays 07:00 to 17:30 - 1 hour lunch
* Fridays 07:00 to 17:00 - 1 hour lunch

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will haveexcellent organisational and time management skills and be passionate aboutdelivering holistic care that has the patient at its centre. The post holderwill be supported to develop skills and abilities, both to enhance their careerand to provide an appropriate level of care to patients. Applicants will have anNVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) and be able todemonstrate previous experience as a Health Care Assistant, either in primaryor secondary care.
Salary equivalent to a Band 4 underAgenda for Change due to the seniority and experience required.

Job responsibilities
a. Support thepractice nurse with health promotion programmes
b. Support thepractice nurse with the management of Chronic Disease clinics
c. Carry outbaseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature,pulse rate, calculating & recording average readings from SystmConnect& AccuRx, and making appointments as needed
d. Reviewpatient triage submissions and making nursing / HCA appointments as needed,review incoming tasks to the nurses inbox and book where appropriate, forexample SystmConnect submissions
e. Dip urinesamples, record and share results as appropriate, and send to lab
f. Facilitateroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
g. UndertakeWound Care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
h. UndertakeSuture/Clips removal
i. Carry outBMI checks as directed
k. Act as achaperone as required
l. Undertakevenepuncture
n. Carry outECGs as requested
o. Carry outShingles, Pneumococcal and B12 injections

w. Attendfortnightly/monthly nurse team, clinical team and practice team meetings
x. Ensurefridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
y. Ensurefridge temperatures are logged daily, AM/PM
z. Ensureclinical waste is removed from clinical areas daily and sharps bins replaced inaccordance with the practice IPC policy

Person Specification
Clinical Skills
* ECGs;
* Venepuncture;
* New patient medicals inc. height, weight, BP, pulse;
* Chaperone procedure;
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
* Wound care / removal of sutures & staples.
Qualifications
* Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level;
* Completion of the HCA Care Certificate;
* Ear syringing certification;
Experience
* Experience of working with the general public;
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
* Experience of working in a primary care environment.
