Responsibilities
* To ensure the accurate and timely delivery of client payrolls, undertake general administrative duties and work collaboratively within the payroll hub.
* Communicate effectively with clients, offices, HMRC and third-party providers.
* Keep up to date with payroll legislation and industry changes through independent research.
* Liaise with clients to obtain information and update payroll for changes in tax codes, attachment orders, student loans and information from third-party sources.
* Maintain accurate records on internal systems of the correspondence flow and ensure information is received in line with agreed guidelines with each client; reconcile payments to HMRC control accounts.
* Provide deliverables in an accurate and timely way.
* Administer the end-to-end payroll process and auto-enrolment compliance for a portfolio of clients.
* Answer payroll-related enquiries from clients and act as a trusted advisor; provide first-line support for pay queries; peer checking of payrolls.
* Develop relationships with clients, ensuring effective communication with the wider offices, HMRC and other third-party providers.
* Stay informed on payroll legislation and industry changes through independent research.
Skills & Experience / Qualifications
* Previous payroll administration experience, minimum of one year in a busy service-driven environment (preferably within a bureau).
* End-to-end payroll processing experience including pensions, benefits and statutory payments.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to coordinate, prioritise and multitask with little supervision.
* Strong customer-focused approach; ability to handle queries by telephone and email.
* Adaptable to a highly changeable environment; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines; knowledge of payroll legislation, processing, and auto-enrolment regulations.
* Must have the ability to manually calculate payroll; a payroll qualification is desirable.
