We are partnering with a Local Council, based in Surrey, who are currently recruiting for a Executive and Committee Support on an initial three month temporary contract.
This a full time role (Monday to Friday, 37 hours/week) and is fully remote other than when required to attend meetings on site (roughly once a week).
The position is due to start in November and is offering a negotiable hourly rate dependent on experience.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a Democratic Services focused position, with specific experience in regards to Executive and Cabinet committees
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
* Assisting in managing the business of the Council, the Executive, Overview and Scrutiny Committees, Regulatory Committees, and other member-led groups, along with other relevant administrative duties
* Ensuring the production of high-quality agendas, dispatched at the appropriate time and in accordance with statutory deadlines and performance indicators
* Organising, attending and supporting meetings of the Council, Executive, Committees, Sub-Committees and other member-led or internal meetings
* Advising on the Constitution and Procedure Rules to members of the Council and officers about decision-making processes and Council etiquette, often as the sole representative of the service in attendance at meetings
* Ensuring that all reports submitted are presented in the agreed format and comply with current policies and procedures, ensuing that appropriate information is provided to enable effective decision-making
* Supporting colleagues in the elections team and covering phones at busy times as well as assisting in the management of civic and ceremonial events, as required
Experience required:
* Previous experience working in a Democratic Services focused position
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
* Providing full secretariat support to Executive and Cabinet committees
* Minute taking
* Agenda preparation
Working hours:
* Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
* 100% WFH other than when required to attend meetings on site (roughly once a week)
