Overview
This position sits within our successful and market-leading Valuation & Investment Advisory team, which is structured through ‘Commercial’ Valuation, ‘Specialist’ Valuation and ‘Investment Advisory’ workstreams. The team provides a focused yet diverse range of services to both public and private sector clients. These include purchase and disposal reports, asset valuations, option appraisals, secured lending valuations, credit assessments, alternative use evaluations, portfolio strategy advice, landlord & tenant work, overage and expert witness/dispute resolution advice - all of which is underpinned by valuation expertise.
With growing demand for its services from both established and new clients, the team has ambitious plans for expansion, we are now seeking a Surveyor / Senior Surveyor to join the team, based in Edinburgh.
This is a pivotal role that involves delivering a wide range of valuation-focused advice while managing and mentoring a graduate surveyor. ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Surveyor / Senior Surveyor to join our Valuation & Investment Advisory team, working across a diverse mix of public and private sector work.
The successful candidate has an exciting opportunity to advise a variety of UK and international clients, both public and private sector, on an extensive range of asset types, including (but not exhaustive) major mixed-use regeneration projects, industrial and logistics parks, town centre regeneration projects, shopping centres and retail warehouse parks, trophy and ‘value-add’ office buildings, defence property assets, schools and sports stadia.
Responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Undertake valuations for investment, development and financial reporting purposes.
* Prepare detailed valuation reports in accordance with the RICS Valuation – Global Standards (Red Book).
* Use sound market analysis and recognised valuation methodologies across property sectors.
* Providing clients with landlord & tenant advice including negotiations on rent reviews, lease extensions and restructures.
* Business development and client meetings.
* In summary, this is a valuation and general practice surveying role.
Team Collaboration & Support
* Contribute to team development through knowledge-sharing and supporting junior colleagues.
* Work collaboratively with other Montagu Evans teams to provide holistic advice.
Market Engagement
* Stay up-to-date with market trends, regulatory updates and wider economic influences.
* Represent the firm at industry events, client meetings and networking opportunities.
* Raising the internal and external profile of the VAIA team through industry events and activities.
Qualifications
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATION
* MRICS qualified and competent in standard RICS Red Book valuations.
* High attention to detail, well organised and a good initiative level.
* Strong verbal, numerical and report writing skills.
* Excellent communication skills.

* Highly motivated.
* An ability to utilise varying methods of valuation.
* Computer literate – you will be expected to be conversant with Excel, Word, Argus (Enterprise and Developer), etc.
