We have an exciting opportunity for a Safeguarding and Welfare Officer to join the team on a term time only, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £31,220 - £33,285 per annum (£23,352- £24,896 pro rata salary with an additional holiday uplift payment). About the role: As the Safeguarding and Welfare Officer, you will provide exemplary safeguarding of students and facilitate the necessary support to enable them to ensure they stay safe and healthy, removing any barriers to allow them to make good progress. To act as a point of contact for students who require immediate safeguarding and wellbeing support and deciding on the best course of action to alleviate the issue, working closely with other relevant staff and stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to student safeguarding and welfare support. Responsibilities as our Safeguarding and Welfare Officer will include: Serving as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead referring, reporting and recording any concerns Supporting and managing safeguarding referrals that are triaged and directed for intervention and swiftly action Reporting safeguarding and welfare concerns to the Safeguarding and Welfare Manager and assist with supporting learners. Working closely with all stakeholders and external agencies to support the needs of the college learners and ensure they stay safe, attending meeting where necessary Overseeing a small caseload of students who require safeguarding and welfare support Supporting the safeguarding file transfer process and highlight any concerns to the Safeguarding and Welfare Manager Working dynamically and efficiently to manage safeguarding and welfare caseloads and monitor their provision Attending meetings to share information and concerns about individual students, to enable a holistic approach To act as the college Young Carer Champion, and support any Registered Young Carers/Registered Young Adult Carers. As our Safeguarding and Welfare Officer you'll ideally have: GCSE English and Maths – grade C/4 or above. Professional qualification in relevant area – teaching, social work, youth work, mental health nursing, counselling, children's residential care and/or other children's services roles. Proven track record of supporting young people with complex mental health or welfare needs. Excellent reporting and recording skills. The ability to work effectively with young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
