Overview
Join to apply for the Service Technician role at Field Operations. We are currently recruiting for a Service Technician to join our Team based in London & the Southeast covering the Battersea and Wandsworth areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance regimes as determined by the contract terms on portfolio lift/escalator equipment and be responsible for completion of Schindler safety inspections and closure of any open non-conformities to current legislation or standards. They will also oversee improvement of equipment condition to improve the time between technical call-backs and reduce lift equipment downtime. Works will also include minor repair work and the lifecycle replacement of components. The successful candidate must adhere to all company safety and conduct procedures and provide coverage by an on-call rota for out-of-hours calls, maintenance and repairs.
Responsibilities
* Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc).
* Rectify and reduce faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and check to confirm correct functioning.
* Check the lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, including checks on speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved tooling and PPE.
* Carry out routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstate lift/escalator and complete service documentation.
* Carry out more advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, manuals and test equipment, restoring equipment to service. Use written or graphical information effectively.
* Carry out site surveys and attend relevant training to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills.
* Work in accordance with the Company’s Safety and Environmental policies to ensure compliance with UK legal requirements and Schindler safety requirements, setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
* Contribute to the Company safety objectives by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems and implementing changes to the safety management system where applicable.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience in lift/escalator servicing/maintenance/repairs preferred.
* NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent (qualification).
* Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
* Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi-brand equipment.
* Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
* Ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
* Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Service Leader/Inspectors).
* Manual dexterity with hands, arms and feet for repetitive tasks and use of various tools; ability to record information.
* Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Good administration skills and punctuality.
* Full UK driving license.
