This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with young people diagnosed with an eating disorder and their carers.
We have two exciting roles within two our our teams.
CYP Day Programme: The day programme is open 5 days a week and provides a step up to support to avoid inpatient being required or as a step down to support earlier discharge from inpatient beds.
CYP ICT: This is a mini team embedded into our young people community team. This team is to offer an enhanced offer of interventions on top of their evidence based treatment.
The successful candidates will work as part of our specialised multidisciplinary team to provide effective, evidence-based and holistic patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be accountable to the registered nurses and other clinicians you work with.
Typical tasks for this role are:
You will participate in the planning and providing of clinical interventions relevant to the patient group such as: completing vital observations, ECG’s and Venepuncture, running therapeutic groups, coaching carers and supporting young person through meal support, supporting key work and supporting the young person in their recovery star. You will assist with patient reviews and participate in supporting young people to improve their physical and mental health.

Who are we?
The team consists of a wide range of disciplines including nurses, OT's, psychologists, family therapists and other Allied Health Professionals, and medical staff. We work closely with the other services within VSEDS to ensure we have high standards of care and to ensure support can be offered through all stages of treatment.

CYP ICT Team location: Vincent Square Eating Disorder Unit, 1 Nightingale Place, London, SW10 9NG and our satellite clinic at Roxborough Rd,
Our main base is in Chelsea (next to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital). Thanks to the NHS influence many local cafes, restaurants and bars give discounts ranging from 10-20% to all NHS staff.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* Undertake a range of duties which involve direct patient care, including running of therapeutic groups and offering family meal support, with supervision following competency assessment
* Undertake training to carry out basic physical monitoring e.g. vital signs, blood sugar monitoring for patients.
* Assist in the coordination of care delivery for a case load of service users, under the supervision of a registered professionals.
* Work independently with clients, with regular supervision from qualified staff that supervise the caseload
* Contribute to the monitoring of the physical environment ensuring that it is safe and conducive to the therapeutic work of the unit/community setting.
* Have informed knowledge and understanding in the psychological, social, physical and spiritual needs of all young people and families
* Actively participate in the care and rehabilitation of service users as per the plan of care determined by registered practitioners
* Maintain clear, timely and comprehensive written clinical records on all
patients in accordance with Trust policies
* Utilising IT skills and knowledge to access and input clinical information and data to the Trust Electronic System (system one) and Local Authority IT system.
* Using the Care Programme Approach assess service users health and social care needs
* Contribute towards the delivery of care using the recovery approach to provide therapeutic interventions under supervision by means of assessment and ongoing treatment in various settings. Design care programmes in line with risk assessment and psychosocial needs.
* Utilise designated recovery tool with outcomes focusing on collaborative care planning, ensuring personalised goals are identified and clients are assisted in building skills and resources to support them into meaningful and sustainable occupations.
* To be familiar with factors that cause mental illness and preferred treatment methods
* Support the assessment and management of patient care needs through initial data collection, monitoring of patients progress, feedback, discussion, and reports and in care reviews with the clinical team.
* Assist in the physical health care assessment of service users and report any changes in service users physical health to the registered practitioner
* Provide information of health promotion and healthy living
* Take part in psychosocial interventions i.e. CBT, DBT, psycho-education or
family work as per service user care plan.
* Provide patients and their carers with a service that is culturally sensitive and gives due consideration to any special needs

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* NVQ Level 3 in care or equivalent
* Significant working experience in a mental health setting
Desirable criteria
* Eating Disorders Experience
* Degree qualification in relevant area

Essential criteria
* Knowledge of mental health problems such as eating disorders, anxiety, depression and personality disorders
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Knowledge of basic physical health monitoring and required interventions
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working with people with eating disorders
* Awareness of treatment outcomes, recovery tools, care planning, assessment of risk.
* Awareness of the Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007 in particular Part 3 of the Act and other legislations such as Safe Guiding Children, Adults, DOLS, Mental Capacity Act 2005
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
* Ability to manage a caseload of patients with diverse and complex needs.
* Able to use basic diagnostic machinery i.e., vital sings machine, blood glucose monitor, for physical health monitoring and interventions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong self-management skills and effective team working
* IT skills e.g. word, excel, emails

* Able to work under pressure while remaining calm and maintaining quality of care.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills
* Ability to maintain boundaries and form positive therapeutic relationship with service users and carers.
