Join to apply for the Senior Clinical Scientist (Vascular) role at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
The post-holder will participate in providing Vascular Ultrasound and other services through the Non-Ionising Radiation section of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering. This section delivers clinical, scientific, technical, and advisory services related to non-ionising radiation at the University Hospital of Wales and other sites. The team includes 6 clinical scientists, 3 healthcare assistants, 1 clinical co-ordinator, and 1 receptionist, with strong links to vascular surgery, medicine, haematology, nephrology, cardiology, and other clinical services within the Health Board and Cardiff University.
The role involves providing safe, effective, and timely diagnostic vascular ultrasound services to the Health Board and GPs, using complex imaging equipment, and taking responsibility for reporting results and advising patients. The post also includes scientific and clinical support in vascular ultrasound, participation in research and development, and involvement in teaching and training staff and students.
Responsibilities include performing highly specialist investigations appropriate for Level 7 of the Healthcare Science Career framework, in various clinical settings including outpatient clinics, Llandough Hospital, and portable scans.
This is a fixed-term/secondment position for 12 months due to maternity cover. Applicants seeking secondment must obtain their current line manager’s permission prior to applying.
