We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and flexible Paediatric Physiotherapist with experience in paediatric Oncology to join the Paediatric Oncology physio service at Great North Children’s Hospital. This is a part‑time Band 7 position working into Paediatric Oncology within the Acute Paediatric Physiotherapy team.
Key Details
• Part‑time, 22 hours per week (average 2.75 days)
• Location: Great North Children’s Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne
• Clinical lead providing highly specialised physiotherapy care for complex oncology patients
• Normal working hours: Monday to Friday, flexible arrangement possible
Responsibilities
 * Act as an active member of the appropriate speciality MDTs within the directorate and wider Trust
 * Provide highly specialised physiotherapy assessment and treatment to paediatric oncology patients and their families/carers
 * Deliver care to complex oncology patients in inpatients, outpatients and clinic settings
 * Provide specialised care for patients with Osteosarcoma, Neuro‑oncology conditions and peripheral neuropathies, bridging the gap between acute and community services
 * Offer out‑patient physiotherapy support in clinics and on the day unit
 * Provide an advisory service to patients, families and multidisciplinary teams in tertiary and secondary care
 * Develop and deliver specialist education and training to nursing, medical and physiotherapy staff and other MDT members to optimise patient outcomes
 * Support the emergency duty on‑call and weekend rota, providing on‑call physiotherapy support as required
 * Maintain and contribute to the clinical physiotherapy service within the regional paediatric oncology unit
Qualifications and Experience
• BSc (Bachelor) in Physiotherapy or equivalent, with a physiotherapy registration valid in the UK
• Extensive paediatric physiotherapy experience, preferably in paediatric oncology
• Strong knowledge of oncology patient care, including tumour types such as osteosarcoma and neuro‑oncology
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively within MDTs
• Commitment to continuous professional development and support CPD for other team members
