The Company and the Role
My client is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join their team. This role will involve leading production staff to ensure customer schedules are met and that quality remains in line with the high standards expected. The position also includes promoting health and safety practices and identifying areas for improvement through lean manufacturing techniques.
Responsibilities
• Ensure full compliance with statutory and company health and safety policies.
• Organise and prioritise team workloads based on the production schedule, ensuring all deadlines are achieved.
• Oversee the daily operations of the department, acting as the first point of contact for any operational matters.
• Provide daily updates to the Site Manager and colleagues during morning briefings (WAR), covering output, quality, and health and safety.
• Maintain high product quality standards.
• Manage team performance, including monitoring absence and handling performance issues.
• Motivate the team to meet targets and ensure ongoing training is provided to support a multi-skilled workforce.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards in line with 5S principles.
• Ensure timely issuing of materials to operators, and report material shortages or stock issues to the planning department.
• Conduct learning and development sessions to continually improve team knowledge and skills.
Experience and Skills
Recent experience in a Supervisor or Team Leader position.
Background in a manufacturing environment, with experience analysing production schedules.
Ability to work to strict production deadlines.
Confident in managing and motivating teams.
Experience implementing lean manufacturing practices.
Familiar with ERP/MRP systems.
A recognised management or supervisory qualification is desirable.
Salary
£30,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience and ability to meet the key requirements of the role.
