From city apartments and rural cottages to townhouses, prime country homes, and farms and estates, Rettie deals with some of the most prestigious properties on the market while still providing exceptional standards of service and value for money to all its clients.

Rettie is looking for a Risk & Compliance Manager
to join its team and play a key role in maintaining the high standards of ethical conduct and regulatory compliance that underpin the business.

As the Risk & Compliance Manager, the successful candidate will ensure that Rettie's business activities are conducted in a compliant and ethical manner, within a framework of policies, procedures and systems based on the relevant regulations.

This regulatory framework includes (but is not limited to) data protection, anti money laundering, consumer protection, anti bribery, complaint handling and professional membership requirements and governance. They will be proactive at keeping up to date with changing regulatory requirements and briefing the Executive Team on any required adaptations or changes in approach.

The Risk & Compliance Manager will review Rettie's company risk assessment on a regular basis and collaborate with the Executive Team to monitor its risk profile; adapting the risk assessment and risk matrix accordingly, and identifying and implementing necessary actions.

The appointed candidate will use their expert monitoring, analytical and reporting skills and will have a keen eye for detail to carry our regular audits and prepare reports and recommendations for the Management and Executive Teams.

The Risk & Compliance Manager will continually look for opportunities to improve and streamline compliance processes, to further enhance customer experience and employee experience. They will provide expert support to Management teams and the frontline teams to achieve the required level of adherence while actively challenging and eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy and taking a commercial approach.

Strong verbal and written communication skills will be required to build positive relationships with colleagues, Rettie's professional contacts, its clients, and customers. The Risk & Compliance Manager will understand the importance of positive, long-term relationships and work in collaboration with colleagues in the frontline and Operations Teams, providing them with expert support on all risk and compliance matters. The successful candidate will coach and develop their team as line manager to enable high performance.

The Risk & Compliance Manager will take complex regulatory information and communicate it clearly and simply to colleagues across the business. They will ensure Rettie meets its regulatory training obligations by providing a training programme for onboarding, regular refresher training and other bespoke requirements identified with the teams; through engaging, relevant and straightforward content.

The successful candidate will provide expert support to colleagues in compliance support roles within the frontline teams and will be proactive in upskilling them in the relevant compliance knowledge. They will ensure all teams can access up to date and clear information on policies, procedures and training via the intranet, supporting Rettie's company culture of self-help and proactive personal development.

The Risk & Compliance Manager will carry out escalated, complex KYC and KYCB checks, working closely with colleagues in the frontline teams and external professional advisors (e.g., solicitors, IFAs, accountants) to facilitate this. They will support the Finance Director and Chief Operating Officer as required with the application and renewal processes for insurances, professional licences and regulatory registrations, ensuring information is accurate and up to date at all times.
