Medical Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking application from self‑motivated and enthusiastic individuals for the post of Medical Laboratory Assistant in the Specimen Reception section for the Biochemistry department.
This post supports the 24/7 Blood Science service and as such the successful candidate will be expected to take part in a 24‑hour shift rota covering weekends and Bank Holidays.
Main duties of the job
The Biochemistry laboratory is CPA accredited and processes in excess of 1,000,000 samples per year. It is well equipped, providing a wide range of routine and specialist diagnostic services with Advia 2400 routine biochemistry analyzers, Centaur XP's, IMMULITE XPi, SEBIA electrophoresis, BN11 Nephelometer, Tosoh G8 HPLC and Waters Mass Spectrometer.

Job responsibilities
* Support the 24/7 Blood Science service by working part of a 24‑hour shift rota covering weekends and Bank Holidays.
* Assist in specimen reception in the Specimen Reception section of the Biochemistry department.
Person Specification
Knowledge, Training and Education
* Good standard of Education demonstrated by GCSE and grades A‑C in Maths, English and a Science subject.
* Previous experience of working in a Laboratory environment and experience of working within the NHS.
Experience
* Experience of Data Entry.
* Experience of working in a team and alone.
