Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Hospitality Assistant to work at Danetre Hospital, Daventry. The Post holder will be a part of a multi-disciplined team whose main task is to undertake general Facilities Domestic & Catering duties, removal of waste, communicating with ward and hotel services staff, maintaining strict confidentiality and being focused on maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for our staff, patients and visitors, and preparing, cooking and serving patient meals.

Hours: 25 hours per week.

Shift pattern: Monday to Friday 08.00-13.00. Hours may be subject to change.


Main duties of the job

* To provide a high-quality hospitality service to wards, departments, clinics and health centres in a way that is conducive to patient care ensuring legislative and operational policies are adhered to.
* The Hospitality Assistant should work closely with other staff to ensure a safe and pleasant environment is provided for patients, staff and visitors.
* To carry out all aspects of floor maintenance i.e. mopping & to always display “wet floor” warning cones when necessary and remove once floor areas are dry.
* To understand COSHH regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and ensure compliance.
* General cleaning of the kitchen and its equipment in accordance with cleaning schedules.
* Prepare, cook, and assemble food items using specialised catering equipment and skills, including knife skills, mixing and slicing, mandolin machines, steam ovens and brat pan use. The list of equipment is not exhaustive.
* Prepare filled sandwiches, salads and desserts for the patient menu.
* Assist with the daily preparation of ward trolleys and deliver to ward kitchens
* Undertake duties relating to the temperature monitoring and recording of all food items and equipment.
* Assist with the preparation and delivery of buffets and functions.
* Complete all relevant paperwork as necessary required by department procedure.

Qualifications /experience

* Experience in a similar role or in a service industry
* General education including literacy and numeracy
* Experience of teamwork
* An understanding of the importance of hygiene
* An understanding of the importance of health and safety
