The Vacancy
Job Title: Fire & Security Technician
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm, 42.5 hours per week (1 week in 4 on standby)
Job Purpose
To be the technical specialist for designated stores responsible for undertaking first call response to Fire, CCTV, EAS, Access Control, PA, Automatic Pedestrian Gates.
Key Accountabilities
* Undertake maintenance and repairs in accordance with KPI’s set by the customer, including response, repair, first fix, and closure.
* Ensure all planned, reactive, and statutory works are carried out per contractual obligations as set out in the City FM Bookcase.
* Complete PPM works within agreed timescales and ensure all paperwork is accurately completed.
* Respond promptly to service call requests from Helpdesk during normal hours and when on call, with out-of-hours issues referred to the specialist.
* Identify non-repairable faults and propose corrective actions.
* Order parts as required, ensure prompt fitment, and chase outstanding parts not delivered within 5 days.
* Complete all required paperwork to measure performance and undertake surveys as requested.
* Regularly communicate with the Duty Manager during store visits about repair and maintenance issues.
* Ensure tools and equipment are available and serviceable at all times.
* Carry out Fire PPM visits to BS5839 and report defects.
* Ensure Fire alarm systems comply with BS 5839 and report defects.
* Proficient in written and verbal communication, report writing, and recording procedures.
* Be aware of relevant regulations and codes of practice.
* Notify the helpdesk of procedural task conditions upon work completion.
* Carry out surveys and complete reports as required.
* Work to high standards in an efficient, cost-effective manner, complying with Health and Safety policies.
* Complete tasks within the allotted time to the satisfaction of the company and client.
* Attend training courses as necessary and keep skills up-to-date.
* Complete all mandatory online training modules.
* Comply with Health and Safety at Work Act and company policies at all times.
* Work with colleagues to maintain quality standards.
* Represent the company professionally and develop good relationships with colleagues.
* Follow any other reasonable instructions from the City Management Team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* GCSE standard
* Electrical Competency Qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds)
* PC literate
* Ability to maintain and repair Fire, CCTV, and EAS systems (Sensormatic)
* Ability to work independently
* Good communication skills
* Helpful and friendly manner
* Self-motivated
* Ability to work at heights
* IPAF license holder
* Competent with steps and ladders
* Current driving license
* Ability to distinguish colors for electrical/electronic maintenance
* Willing to work flexible hours
