The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Job description
Director Information intends to increase coherence across their functional leadership responsibilities by having a single focus to track, cohere, collate and assure the work that is done across the Army Headquarters.
As the Intelligence Functional Leadership, you will coordinate the implementation of intelligence direction; to prepare inputs to Army and Defence-level forums; and to assist in strategy and policy inputs from across the federated functional leadership organisation.
Awareness of Five Eyes (FVEYS), North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and national intelligence policy will need to be developed as part of the role, with the ability to translate this into effective Army policy fit for the Land Operating Concept. While the role is intelligence focused, there will be a regular need to cohere intelligence related capability, policy and strategy activity that could span Land Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) programme, Cyber and Electromagnetic Activity (CEMA) and Joint Effects.
Secure behaviours play an integral role in protecting both the UK, and our Armed Forces, against external and internal threats. Through this role, you will have the opportunity to develop a broader understanding of the security risks facing the Army across the cyber. You will also become a member of the Government Security Profession, and there are further opportunities for continued professional development.
We are looking for a talented and motivated individual who is a team player but is equally comfortable working on their own to assure physical, personnel, cyber and information security. The successful candidate must be comfortable engaging with wider Defence, Government, and industry. Occasional travel within the UK will be required but this will rarely demand overnight stays.
The successful candidate will be required to:
* Contribute to delivering key Intelligence governance actions around strategy, policy, communications and compliance
* Identify and mitigate areas of coherence risk across the Intelligence, CEMA and Security fields
* Produce intelligence related policy
* Conduct intelligence assurance activity
* Maintain awareness of the latest ISTAR and CEMA developments across the international military community, industry and academia
* Support the Army’s functional interface into Defence Intelligence Governance
* Develop shared situational awareness, coherence, efficiency and a shared sense of purpose across activity with intelligence co-dependencies
* Establish and maintain a knowledge management mechanism for functional coherence

Person specification
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can handle the pressure of coordinating a wide range of activities and should be comfortable working within the service management profession, willing to challenge established norms and process and be prepared to adapt to changing priorities. Applicants should also have effective written and verbal communication skills and display a positive and professional attitude.
Cyber skills and awareness are increasingly needed across many aspects of intelligence. Prior experience or qualifications in this area are desirable for this role, however there will be the opportunity for the successful applicant to upskill in this area once in post, with formal training and qualifications available.
Essential
* Good awareness of the primary intelligence disciplines of Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Counter-Intelligence (CI) and All Source Analysis
* Understanding the intelligence structures in the UK and having an awareness of key intelligence policies will be critical to success in this role
* Ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders and build strong relationships
* Highly organised and able to deal with multiple requests/priorities with competing deadlines
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable
* Prior experience of working within the UK Intelligence Community
* A recognised intelligence or cyber qualification
* Membership of one or more recognised Professional Security Body
* Have previous experience working in a security environment
