Working for Waukesha Bearings, a Dover company, as a Skilled CNC Operator will involve working in a fully integrated CAD/CAM manufacturing facility. You will utilize multi-axis CNC machining centers for milling, turning, and grinding operations to produce customized designs from various materials such as steel, copper, brass, aluminum, and bronze.
The facility features a broad range of multi-axis milling and turning centers, handling a high-mix of customized fluid-film bearings, seals, and isolators for applications in turbo and industrial machinery, serving customers across Europe and beyond.
Annual Salary: For a rotating shift pattern of 2 weeks on early start (6am) and 2 weeks on backshift (2pm), including an 18% shift premium, total earnings will be approximately £44,920, plus productivity bonuses, pension, and life insurance.
What You Will Bring
* HNC or SVQ/NVQ level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, or a time-served apprenticeship in a machining discipline
* At least 5 years of experience operating CNC machine tools in a lean-manufacturing environment
* Experience with machine control systems such as Fanuc, Mazak, Heidenhain, or Haas
* Proven ability to maintain tight machining tolerances (<0.0025mm)
* Experience with precision inspection equipment like micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges
* Ideally, experience in power generation, oil & gas, aerospace, or similar sectors
What You Will Do
* Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements
* Download programs from DNC storage systems
* Interpret work instructions, select, and install proper tooling
* Calculate feeds and speeds for various materials
* Read, edit, or write complete CNC programs
* Understand tooling and machinery capabilities
* Perform quality inspections and understand quality systems
* Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce setup times and improve productivity
* Inspect final components and prepare parts for shipment, including cleaning and packaging
* Use precision measuring instruments for quality verification
