We are currently recruiting for a skilled CNC Setter/Operator (Turning) to join a global engineering company based in Thetford. This is a permanent night shift role, working Monday to Thursday, 4:00pm - 4:00am (46 hours). You'll be setting and operating CNC turning centres to produce high-quality components, working independently to keep production running smoothly and efficiently.
The Role
As a CNC Setter/Operator, your responsibilities will include:
Setting and operating CNC turning machines, including tooling selection, offsets, and work holding
Safely proving out new jobs and ensuring smooth production runs
Working to engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications
Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometres, bore gauges)
Monitoring machine performance and troubleshooting issues to minimise downtime
Responding to machine alarms and escalating issues where required
Maintaining accurate records of inspection results
Adhering to health & safety standards, ensuring safe machine operation and a clean, organised workspace (5S)
Requirements
Proven experience as a CNC Setter/Operator (Turning) in a production environment (ideally 5+ years)
Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi (DMG MORI)
Strong understanding of multi-axis turning
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including tolerances and basic GD&T
Experience using inspection equipment for quality checks
Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently on a night shift
Desirable Skills
Experience with DMG MORI, Citizen, or Fanuc turning centres and/or live tooling
Ability to make minor program edits at the machine
Familiarity with continuous improvement practices (cycle time reduction, scrap reduction)
Experience working with route cards, SOPs, control plans, and basic SPC
Knowledge of machining a range of materials including steels, aluminium, and stainless steel

Pay: £18 - £20 per hour
