About the administrator role : The position we are recruiting for is supporting the Scottish History and Archaeology department with the selected candidate reporting to the Keeper. As administrator you are responsible for the proactive management of day-to-day administrative tasks, processes and dealing with enquiries. The department curates the Scottish collections in National Museums Scotland which cover Scottish material culture from the earliest times to the present day. It is the largest collection of its kind anywhere and aims to be a comprehensive record of the life, times and achievements of the people of Scotland at home and abroad. As an administrator at National Museums Scotland, you will : Be the main first point of general contact for the department (internally and externally), liaising with colleagues and external stakeholders to administer the distribution and collation of information to ensure good communication. Support the Keeper and staff in the department in a range of administrative and other duties. Liaise with colleagues across the museum as well as volunteers and visitors. Maintain records for departmental financial transactions, personnel transactions (including travel and accommodation bookings) and the carbon budget. Skills and experience we’re looking for in our department administrator : Knowledge and understanding of databases, filing systems, modern office systems and procedures. Excellent ICT skills in MS Office, Excel, MS Teams, Outlook, and databases. Ability to deal with specialist and non-specialist public. Proven work experience in a busy administration environment.
