Implement the Unbeatable Quality Strategy to ensure Warburtons manufactures and distributes products to the required standards and in accordance with the Warburtons Quality Management System (QMS).
Act as the food/feed safety and hygiene lead at sites, supporting Manufacturing and Distribution teams to optimize processes using proactive activities, evidence-led data, continuous improvement techniques, and measured by company KPIs.
Work 5 days a week onsite at our Bristol Bakery and Distribution depot located at Severn Beach, near Bristol. We're a 15-minute drive from the M5 and 10 minutes from the Severn Bridge (toll-free from Wales).
Bristol hosts three state-of-the-art manufacturing plants, including our latest innovation, The Bagel. We produce over 12 different bakery products, manufacturing more than 160,000 units daily to delight families across the UK. The site employs nearly 500 colleagues from over 21 nationalities, operating 24/7, 363 days a year. Bristol also serves as a Driver Training Centre and Distribution hub.
Key Accountabilities and Measures
* Lead and enable site activities to deliver high-quality products, collaborating with site and Centre Quality teams.
* Serve as the food/feed safety and hygiene subject matter expert, ensuring compliance standards are met and improved.
* Identify opportunities for improvements and develop plans to achieve them within set timescales.
* Manage food/feed safety and hygiene standards within the Quality Management System.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of national and local strategies as part of the Manufacturing Leadership Team.
* Manage internal and external audits, including regulatory inspections, in collaboration with the Technical Manager.
* Oversee suppliers impacting hygiene standards.
* Ensure all employees understand the importance of food/feed safety and hygiene.
* Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the Compliance team to meet goals and targets.
* Require experience managing food/feed safety and hygiene in an FMCG environment.
* Hold a science/food-based qualification, with food technology or similar background.
* Possess Lead Auditor or Auditor qualifications in quality management systems.
* Have at least Level 4 HACCP & Food Safety qualifications.
* Have good knowledge of food microbiology.
* Hold a Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management.
* Be trained and competent in COSHH & IOSH Managing Safely.
* Proven track record in implementing quality systems and external standards.
* Be proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Have knowledge of HS&E, food/feed safety legislation, and hygiene systems.
* Understand cleaning methodologies and chemical applications.
* Be familiar with continuous improvement techniques and CIP systems.
* Knowledge of SAP ERP and industrial bakery processes is preferred.
