We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK energy infrastructure organisation that is continuing to grow within a fast-moving, sustainability-led environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Finance Assistant looking to build hands-on experience within a supportive, commercially focused finance team.
The role is offered as a 6-month fixed-term contract, based in Salisbury with hybrid working, and would suit someone at the early stages of their finance career who is keen to develop practical accounting experience within a structured corporate setting.
The Opportunity
You will play a key role in supporting day-to-day finance operations, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and on time. The role provides exposure across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end support, working closely with both finance and operational stakeholders.
This position offers valuable experience within a business operating critical infrastructure assets and complex billing streams — ideal for someone studying (or planning to study) AAT and looking to strengthen their core finance skillset.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supporting accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and billing support
2. Assisting with reconciliations across multiple revenue and cost streams
3. Supporting credit control activities and service credit reconciliation
4. Processing employee expenses
5. Assisting with bank postings and reconciliations
6. Maintaining and reconciling the fixed asset register
7. Supporting month-end activities, including journal postings
8. Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
9. Using Microsoft Dynamics and Excel to input, manage, and analyse financial data
10. Ensuring compliance with internal policies, HMRC requirements, and audit standards
What We’re Looking For
11. GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
12. A-Levels or equivalent qualification
13. Studying or planning to study AAT
14. Previous experience in an office-based or finance support role
15. Sound understanding of basic accounting principles (DRs & CRs)
16. Strong Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
17. High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
18. Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively across teams
19. Proactive, reliable, and keen to learn
