Salary/Benefits

Salary is between £30,915 and £41,085 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.


Hours/Weeks

37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About The Role

We are currently seeking a SEND Transition Coordinator to join our Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.

As a SEND Transition Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* SEND Assessment & Support Planning – Conduct comprehensive assessments for learners with SEND and EHCPs, identifying appropriate support levels and ensuring provision aligns with individual needs and college policies.
* Transition Coordination & Stakeholder Liaison – Lead transition planning into and within college, liaising with schools, Local Authorities and curriculum teams to ensure smooth, well‑supported learner progression.
* High Needs Assessment & Funding Reports – Assess High Needs learners, determine appropriate provision and produce detailed, professional reports to support Local Authority funding applications.
* Collaboration, CPD & Inclusive Practice – Work closely with staff, parents/carers and external professionals, providing guidance and CPD to support inclusive teaching and effective learner support strategies.
* Professional Practice, Safeguarding & Compliance – Maintain accurate documentation, participate in quality and marketing activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD responsibilities.


About You

* Qualifications & SEND Expertise – A Levels (or equivalent), GCSE English and maths, with graduate or vocational training in Education, Health or Social Sciences, and strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and FE sector.
* SEND, EHCP & Learner Support Experience – Proven experience supporting young people with SEND and EHCPs, including leading meetings with students, parents and professionals, and delivering effective one‑to‑one support.
* Communication, Reporting & Professional Relationships – Excellent communication skills across all formats, able to produce high‑quality reports, maintain professional boundaries and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
* Organisation, IT & Collaborative Working – Highly organised with strong IT, administrative and record‑keeping skills, able to prioritise workload, work under pressure and collaborate effectively across college teams.
* Professional Values, Flexibility & Safeguarding – Committed to safeguarding, equality and College values, adaptable and proactive with a focus on learner experience, flexible working patterns and willingness to travel across sites.

About The Bedford College Group

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
