We are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant to join our growing multidisciplinary team across Wexham Park and King Edward Hospitals. You'll join a supportive team of 4 full-time and 2 part-time consultants delivering high-quality care across inpatient and outpatient settings, including Diabetic Foot and Joint Antenatal services. Outpatient clinics are held across Wexham Park, King Edward, Heatherwood, and St Marks Hospitals. Opportunities exist to lead on subspecialty interests and contribute to service innovation.
The role includes participation in the General Medical on-call rota and offers a minimum of 1.5 SPA sessions. You'll be involved in teaching and training, with access to students from Oxford, Southampton, Imperial, and Brunel Medical Schools.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide inpatient care on Ward 5, a 36-bed general medical ward with additional responsibility for outlying patients. They will undertake ward cover in 2-week blocks every 10 weeks, during which they will provide full-time inpatient care with no outpatient commitments. During these periods, the consultant will supervise registrars, support specialty referrals, manage urgent GP calls, and work closely with the inpatient Diabetes Specialist Nurses and Diabetic Foot Team.
The post includes 4-5 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) sessions per week focused on outpatient clinics in Diabetes and Endocrinology, including General Endocrinology, Type 1 and Complex Type 2 Diabetes, Transition, Joint Antenatal, and Diabetic Foot MDT clinics. Diabetes clinic slots are 30 minutes Endocrine clinic slots vary depending on format (face-to-face or telephone). One weekly session is allocated for administrative duties. The appointee will support cross-cover of MDT clinics with the consultant team.
A minimum of 1.5 SPA sessions per week is provided to support CPD, clinical governance, teaching, and service development. The role benefits from access to a generous study leave budget, a Postgraduate Education Centre, and an on-site medical library with online journal access.
The appointee will participate in the general medical on-call rota, currently 1:7 weekends and 1:20 weekdays, subject to service needs.

The successful applicant will be involved in providing general medical services to patients on the endocrine and general medical ward and participating in the acute general medical on-call rota.
Applicants should have a CCT in Endocrinology and General Medicine, or be within 6-months of achieving this at the time of application.
