Senior Physiotherapist - Chronic Pelvic Pain

Thank you for taking the time to review this exciting role as a Senior Physiotherapist with the Chronic Pelvic Pain Physiotherapy team. We are seeking an experienced physiotherapist eager to develop expertise in pelvic health physiotherapy within a multidisciplinary team, committed to delivering high-quality, responsive, and person-centred care.
The post holder will manage an outpatient caseload, including classes and multidisciplinary clinics. Opportunities for ongoing in-service training and supervision support will be provided. Previous pelvic health experience is preferred but not essential. The position is for 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
To be professionally and legally responsible for own clinical practice, managing a diverse and complex caseload.
To work autonomously in assessing and treating patients with chronic pelvic pain, reporting to the Band 8a Specialist Physiotherapist in Pelvic Pain.
To collaborate effectively within the multidisciplinary team for Chronic Pelvic Pain.
To work with Lead Consultants and team members for the Adult and Adolescent Chronic Pelvic Pain Services.
To undertake supervision, teaching, and appraisal of physiotherapists and students within the pelvic pain service.
To support the Band 8a Specialist Physiotherapist in organizing and managing the service.
To participate in quality improvement projects, ensuring high standards of practice.

Job responsibilities
Clinical:
* Be responsible for all aspects of own professional activities.
* Assess patients independently, including complex cases, using clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to determine interventions.
* Assess the pelvic region considering gynaecological, urological, colo-rectal, and musculoskeletal conditions, based on anatomy, physiology, and pathology knowledge.
* Be aware of local services supporting chronic pelvic pain management and referral pathways.
* Interpret clinical and non-clinical data to diagnose a range of conditions.
* Develop and manage patient care plans, seeking specialist support for complex cases.
* Reassess and modify treatment plans when interventions are ineffective.
* Obtain informed consent, working within legal frameworks, including for patients lacking capacity.
* Coordinate interventions with other disciplines, advising and educating patients, carers, and staff.
* Communicate sensitive information effectively, overcoming barriers where present.
* Maintain accurate records, including progress and discharge reports.
* Use clinical reasoning to refer patients to other health disciplines as appropriate.
* Carry out assessments and interventions involving manual therapy and therapeutic handling.
* Respond sensitively to patients with difficult or embarrassing conditions.
Management:
* Adhere to Trust and department policies, quality standards, and evidence-based guidelines.
* Plan and organize own workload, including patient caseload and meetings.
* Support the maintenance of equipment and report defects or issues promptly.
* Comply with health and safety regulations, including infection control and universal precautions.
* Report incidents and accidents, maintaining documentation.
* Complete mandatory training and participate in appraisals and departmental meetings.
* Assist in clinical audits and service development initiatives.
* Prioritize and manage a caseload, balancing clinical and professional activities.
* Impart knowledge through training sessions, managing stressful or emotional situations empathetically.
Education:
* Maintain personal professional development and stay updated on pelvic health practices.
* Contribute to training and supervision of staff and students.
Research and audit:
* Participate in clinical audits and evidence-based projects.
* Lead projects with supervision, presenting findings professionally.
* Stay informed of best practices through reading, training, and research.
General:
* Perform assessments and treatments daily, involving physical effort.
* Follow manual handling policies and guidelines.
* Support patients with distressing news or challenging behaviours empathetically.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
* Registered with the HCPC
* Evidence of CPD, including relevant courses
* CPD in pelvic health physiotherapy or chronic pain
* Member of POGP
* Postgraduate courses in pelvic health

This post requires a DBS check due to the nature of the role.
Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 per annum, pro-rata if applicable.
