Job Summary An exciting opportunity for a salaried GP to join our team at Hugglescote Surgery. The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner in a GMS, SystmOne practice, responsible for the provision of safe, effective, and compassionate medical services to a population of approximately 10,000 people in an expanding town. This is a training practice accredited to Tier 3 research, with a large multidisciplinary team including lead nurse, HCAs, pharmacists and ARC support from the PCN. The role is part of a high quality, CQC Good rated practice that values pastoral care, family life and work-life balance.
Main Duties
Deliver safe, effective patient-centred general practice services.
Provide services in line with the GMS contract and local commissioning requirements.
Prescribe according to national and local formulary guidance.
Manage acute and chronic conditions, including proactive long-term reviews.
Process clinical administration promptly (referrals, prescriptions, pathology results).
Participate in the duty doctor and telephone triage rota.
Maintain accurate, legible, contemporaneous clinical records.
Share practice workload equitably.
Engage with audit, QOF, IIF, and clinical governance processes.
Attend and contribute to practice meetings (clinical, safeguarding, M&M, SEA).
Undertake appraisals, revalidation, and keep professional registration current.
Contribute to training of medical students and other healthcare learners.
Support practice development, income optimisation, and efficiency initiatives.
Promote teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement.
Ensure mandatory training and competencies are up to date.

Full GMC registration, National Performers List registration
Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
MRCGP or equivalent GP CCT qualification
Employee registration with the NHS (or equivalent)
Experience in a UK primary-care environment and chronic disease management, QOF and clinical audit
Experience of continuing professional development
High standard of clinical knowledge and decision-making skills
Medicines management and evidence-based prescribing experience
Trusted confidentiality, audit, governance, and risk management experience
Excellent communication and consultation skills (written and oral)
Competent IT user: Office, Outlook, SystmOne, AccuRx, Ardens
