CAD Technician - Rail Location: Newton-Le- Willows, Merseyside (Hybrid/Office-based options available) Job Type: Permanent Salary: Negotiable (dependent on experience) About the Role We are working with a leading rail client in Newton-Le-Willows who is looking to appoint a permanent CAD Technician to support major rail infrastructure projects across the UK. You will play a key role in the production and coordination of high-quality CAD drawings, supporting engineers and project teams throughout the design lifecycle. Key Responsibilities - Produce accurate 2D CAD drawings for rail and civil engineering projects - Modify, update, and manage existing drawings in line with project requirements - Work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to deliver coordinated designs - Ensure drawings comply with relevant industry standards, specifications, and client requirements - Maintain drawing registers and document control procedures - Support design reviews and incorporate feedback efficiently - Assist with clash detection and coordination where required Requirements - Proven experience as a CAD Technician within rail, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects - Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (essential) - Experience working on rail projects and familiarity with Network Rail standards is highly desirable - Good understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation - Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks - Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach Desirable Skills - Experience with MicroStation, Revit, or other BIM tools - Knowledge of BIM processes and workflows - Previous experience working in a consultancy or major infrastructure environment What's on Offer - Permanent position with a leading rail client - Salary negotiable depending on experience - Opportunities for career progression and professional development - Involvement in major rail infrastructure projects - Supportive and collaborative working environment
