We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), which is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals. You will be the strategic lead for the way we manage financial investigations ensuring we are fulfilling our obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). You’ll be proactive in your approach with a strong focus on continually improving and enhancing the way we work.
Responsibilities
* Lead two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; provide strong leadership, motivate and develop your team, and manage performance and work delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC); influence at a senior level to align priorities with external enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in continually improving processes and understanding POCA, share lessons learned, input into changes to technical documentation, and advise enforcement officers nationwide.
* Oversee the team structure: Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team, comprised of Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts; manage a nationally dispersed team.
Experience and Skills
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team; strong understanding of financial investigations and POCA.
* Experience in:
– Working in the law enforcement sector and understanding the National Intelligence Model
– Communicating effectively, delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders
– Working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload
– Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices
– Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and individuals
Additional Information
* This is a hybrid working role; you’ll work flexibly from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is a central part of the role; you may be required to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident, which may attract additional payment. Training and workplace adjustments will be available to support you.
