Overview

The Department of Cardiology is appointing a Senior & Junior Clinical Fellow to support patients at the Grange University Hospital. The successful applicant will consolidate their existing skills and experience in medicine within a busy Cardiology department. Exposure to a wide range of cardiology specific conditions will place them in an excellent position when applying for further training within the specialty. The post will include on call in General Internal Medicine at IMT 3 level, on the on-call rolling rota currently 1:18 (subject to changes).

Main duties of the job

* The main responsibilities are for the effective and appropriate medical care of inpatients admitted under the care of the Consultant Cardiology Physician
* The duties and responsibilities will be appropriate to the grade and specialty with appropriate consultant supervision
* This will include the assessment, monitoring and initiating treatment, with colleagues and under consultant supervision
* Attend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds, and supervise relevant junior medical students who may rotate through the directorate
* Undertake regular unsupervised ward rounds on the relevant ward to ensure patients are making satisfactory progress
* Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion
* Attend clinic as part of continuing professional development
* Research and service outcome evaluation will be a key part of this job and you will have one session for this as part of this clinical fellow post

Job responsibilities

This position involves Regulated Activity with adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:

* Enhanced check with barred list information, including
* an adults barred list check

Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC

Person Specification

* Eligible to hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC
* Evidence of working effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary team
* Commitment to team approach and multidisciplinary working
* Previous experience of working in the NHS or equivalent
* Evidence that career progression is consistent with personal circumstances
* Completion of Foundation Training

Depending on experience £46,324 - £71,814 per annum, pro rata for part time
