Caretaker / Site Assistant
Location: Bordon, Hampshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm
Contract: Permanent / Term-time plus some holiday working (subject to school needs)
A welcoming and inclusive school in Bordon is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker / Site Assistant to support the day-to-day operation, safety, and upkeep of the school site.
The school is set within a spacious site that includes classrooms, outdoor learning areas, playgrounds, and shared facilities. It serves a diverse school community and places a strong emphasis on providing a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the school site is safe, secure, and well maintained throughout the school day
* Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic DIY tasks
* Monitor and maintain cleanliness of external areas, including playgrounds, entrances, and pathways
* Assist with setting up rooms and spaces for school activities, meetings, and events
* Carry out health and safety checks, including fire safety and equipment checks
* Support contractors and deliveries, ensuring site procedures are followed
* Respond promptly to site-related issues and report any concerns to senior staff
* Support opening, closing, and general security of the premises during working hours
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Be dependable, practical, and able to work independently
* Have good communication skills and a positive, helpful attitude
* Take pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming school environment
* Have basic maintenance or caretaking experience (desirable but not essential)
* Understand the importance of safeguarding and working within a school setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
