Job Description:
We are seeking a Nurture Teacher / Intervention Teacher to work with young people facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges in Dorking. The role involves supporting children aged 9-16 with various learning and behavioral needs, many of whom have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). The school offers a supportive environment for students struggling with relationships, anxiety, and challenging behaviors.
The school is part of an award-winning trust across Surrey, London, Sussex, and Berkshire, providing access to ongoing training and career development for staff. This opportunity is suitable for experienced practitioners or recent graduates eager to start a career in special needs education.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver intervention lessons across KS3/4 to bridge learning gaps and build confidence
* Teach subjects including maths and English
* Manage student behavior and support participation in class
* Develop social skills and cater to individual student needs
* Participate in team meetings and training
* Maintain progress records
* Ensure adherence to safeguarding regulations
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
* Experience with KS1 and KS2 SEMH, with ability to work with KS3/4
* Not suitable for NQTs
* For primary teachers transitioning from mainstream, demonstrate relevant experience or motivation for special needs
* Flexibility in working patterns
Summary:
Position: Nurture Teacher / Intervention Teacher – Primary – Mental Health
Rate: £160 - £200 daily (full-time, 8.30am–4.00pm)
Type: Full-time or part-time, flexible hours, short/long-term contracts
Start: September 2024 or later, depending on availability
