Position: Supervisor – Patient Services
Grade: Band 3 (Contract, Permanent)
Hours: Part‑time – 30 hours per week (1 x 37.5‑hour post Mon–Fri 10:00–18:00, 1 x 30‑hour post Mon–Fri 13:00–19:00, 1 x 15‑hour post Sat and Sun 14:00–22:00)

Key Responsibilities
* Provide direct supervision and guidance to all Patient Services Assistants (PSAs).
* Assist the Patient Services Manager with recruitment, selection, induction and training of staff.
* Allocate work to PSAs and bank staff to meet departmental and partner Trust needs.
* Ensure daily delivery of high standards of work across all zone areas, conducting audits, inspections and monitoring visits, and providing feedback to the zone team.
* Carry out and record probationary reviews, appraisals, absence management, performance and conduct meetings.
* Support staff through learning and development initiatives.
* Organise and lead monthly team briefs for zone teams.
* Liaise with Trust colleagues to ensure standard and consistency of service delivery.
* Provide management reports to support departmental delivery and development.
* Carry out regular monitoring of wards and departments in accordance with NHS E&I guidelines and the 2021 National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness.
* Ensure safe working practices and that all machinery and equipment are maintained in good working order; report defects and necessary repairs.
* Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff, and comply with all Trust safety instructions, guidelines and policies.
* Report accidents and incidents promptly and complete the required forms.
* Update knowledge of Safer Handling techniques annually.
Person Specification
* Successful experience of supervising staff, particularly through periods of change.
* Experience of delivering staff training.
* Experience of leading teams, including recruitment and selection of new staff.
* Ability to adhere to quality standards and departmental procedures.
* Flexible approach to working days, hours and location.
* Ability to remain calm while managing unexpected operational issues.
Qualifications
* Level 2 qualification or equivalent in English and Maths.
* NVQ Level 2 in the Cleaning of Buildings.
* Basic Food Hygiene certification.
* Safer Handling facilitator training.
* Medical Gas facilitator training.
* Experience of catering, porter or cleaning work.
