Chief Financial Officer
Buy-and-Build Technology Business
Full-time | Permanent | Location: London (IN OFFICE 5 days per week)
Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Equity / LTIP
WTalent are hiring on behalf of one of their clients, a growing technology business with an ambitious buy-and-build strategy. The company is seeking an experienced, commercially minded Chief Financial Officer to join the leadership team and play a key role in driving growth, acquisitions, integration, operational improvement, and long-term value creation.
This is a broad CFO role suited to a hands-on finance leader who can operate strategically at board level while also being comfortable getting into the detail. The successful candidate will bring strong financial leadership, proven M&A and buy-and-build experience, and the ability to support a fast-moving, entrepreneurial technology business through its next stage of growth.
The Role
As CFO, you will take full ownership of the finance function while acting as a strategic partner to the CEO, board, investors, and wider leadership team. You will lead financial planning, reporting, controls, funding, acquisition support, integration, and commercial decision-making across the business.
This is an ideal opportunity for a CFO who enjoys working in a growth environment and wants to be closely involved in shaping strategy, delivering acquisitions, improving performance, and building a scalable finance function.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the finance function and provide clear financial insight to the CEO, board, investors, and senior leadership team.
* Support and drive the company’s buy-and-build strategy, including acquisition evaluation, due diligence, deal support, integration planning, and post-acquisition performance tracking.
* Build and improve financial systems, controls, processes, reporting, and governance to support scale.
* Own budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, management reporting, and board reporting.
* Provide commercial analysis to support pricing, margins, investment decisions, operational improvement, and growth initiatives.
* Work closely with operational teams to improve business performance and financial discipline.
* Manage relationships with banks, investors, auditors, tax advisers, legal advisers, and other external stakeholders.
* Lead, develop, and structure the finance team as the business grows.
* Support future fundraising, refinancing, debt facilities, or exit planning where required.
* Act as an all-round senior finance leader across strategy, operations, M&A, reporting, systems, and risk management.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced CFO or senior finance leader with a strong track record in acquisitive, fast-growth businesses. You will be commercially sharp, operationally hands-on, and confident working in a technology or technology-enabled environment.
You will need to demonstrate:
* Previous experience operating at CFO, Finance Director, or equivalent senior finance leadership level.
* Proven experience in a buy-and-build environment, including M&A, due diligence, acquisition modelling, integration, and post-deal value creation.
* Experience working with private equity, investors, or founder-led growth businesses would be highly advantageous.
* Strong all-round finance capability, including reporting, controls, cash management, forecasting, budgeting, systems, and compliance.
* The ability to move between strategic board-level work and hands-on operational finance.
* Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge, influence, and support decision-making.
* Experience in technology, software, SaaS, IT services, managed services, digital, or technology-enabled businesses would be beneficial.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work closely with CEOs, boards, investors, lenders, advisers, and operational teams.
* A qualified accountant background is preferred, though equivalent senior-level experience will also be considered.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact CFO role in a business with significant growth ambitions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the company’s acquisition strategy, professionalise the finance function, support operational improvement, and play a central role in building long-term enterprise value.
This role would suit a commercially focused CFO who enjoys being part of the leadership team, thrives in a growth environment, and has genuine buy-and-build experience.
