Head of IT

United Kingdom. With a strong presence in the market, we specialise in offering fast and flexible
bridging loans and buy-to-let mortgages to our valued intermediaries and clients.
Role Purpose:
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Head of IT to take full ownership of our
technology environment. This is a key leadership role responsible for defining, building, and
running the company’s IT function—from strategic planning and governance to day-to-day
operations and support.
As a player/manager, the Head of IT will be equally comfortable setting high-level direction and rolling up their sleeves to resolve issues, implement systems, or support internal stakeholders. They will lead and develop a capable in-house team and manage a network of external technology vendors and service providers.
The successful candidate will have a strong generalist IT background with specific knowledge of Salesforce and MuleSoft, along with expertise in IT operations, infrastructure, governance, cyber security, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Strategy & Leadership
• Define and implement the overall IT strategy & roadmap in alignment with company goals
and growth plans
• Oversee and develop the company IT roadmap, in line with the changing needs of the
business or markets
• Build and lead the internal IT function, developing a high-performing team and effective
operating model
• Oversee the companies’ Salesforce strategy and associated projects
• Establish IT governance, policies, and procedures, including security protocols, data
protection, business continuity, and compliance
• Champion innovation, digital transformation and continuous improvement across all IT
systems and processes
Technology Operations, Infrastructure & Systems Oversight
• Oversee the performance, security, and reliability of all IT systems, applications, and
networks & Optimise system ‘up’ time performance, reliability and scalability with each action and step
• Own the internal use and evolution of Salesforce and MuleSoft, ensuring both platforms
are optimised and integrated effectively
• Manage software development, configuration and integration across the business –
Ensuring that each step allows for scalable growth towards ultimate objectives
• Ensure efficient support for users, covering hardware, software, cloud services,
connectivity, and enterprise applications
• Create and oversee an efficient and effective employee/desktop support model to ensure
the business remains productive and impactful, avoiding down time and issues
Cyber Security & Risk Management
• Develop, implement, and enforce a comprehensive cyber security strategy, including
policies, standards, and procedures to protect the organization's systems, data, and digital
assets
• Lead the creation and maintenance of incident response and disaster recovery plans,
ensuring the business can respond quickly and effectively to security events or system
outages
• Conduct ongoing risk assessments and vulnerability analyses across infrastructure,
applications, and third-party providers, identifying and addressing potential threats before
they impact operations.
• Oversee the selection, deployment, and management of security technologies, including
but not limited to firewalls, endpoint detection and response (EDR), multi-factor
authentication (MFA), encryption, SIEM, and intrusion detection/prevention systems
(IDS/IPS).
Data Management & Analytics
• Lead the development and enforcement of robust data governance policies, ensuring data
is accurate, secure, and used responsibly across the organisation
• Establish frameworks for data quality assurance, data lifecycle management, and
metadata standards.
• Oversee data integration strategies across enterprise platforms—including Salesforce,
MuleSoft, and other core systems—to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility
• Drive the adoption and effective use of business intelligence (BI) and analytics tools,
enabling real-time and strategic decision-making across departments
• Collaborate with business units to understand reporting needs, translate them into
technical solutions, and deliver actionable insights through dashboards, KPIs, and data
visualisations
IT Procurement, Vendor & Partner Management
• Lead the evaluation, selection, and ongoing management of third-party IT vendors,
service providers, software suppliers, and hardware partners
• Establish clear vendor performance metrics, service level agreements (SLAs), and
escalation processes to ensure accountability and quality of service
• Take ownership of all IT-related contract negotiations, renewals, and licensing
agreements—balancing functionality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness
• Collaborate with finance teams to manage IT budgets, forecast spending, and implement
cost-saving measures without compromising service quality or security
• Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets, licenses, and vendor
relationships, ensuring timely renewals and appropriate usage tracking
• Oversee procurement processes for hardware, software, and services, ensuring alignment
with company policies, strategic priorities, and scalability needs.
• Ensure vendor compliance with security, data protection, and regulatory standards,
especially where third parties have access to critical systems or data.
Role Requirements:
Essential:
• Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role (e.g., Head of IT, IT Manager, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of IT operations, infrastructure, security, and service management
• Hands-on understanding of Salesforce and MuleSoft within a business environment
• Experience growing & managing internal teams as well as third-party IT service providers
• Demonstrated success in building IT teams, processes, and governance from the ground
up.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
Desirable
• Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP, Salesforce Administrator, MuleSoft
certifications).
• Experience working in fast-scaling, multi-system environments.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and modern workplace
tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, endpoint management).
