Job Description: SEN Administrator Location: Secondary School in the Southwark Borough Contract Type: Full-Time Reporting to: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) or Head of Inclusion Role Overview: As the SEN Administrator at our secondary school in the Southwark Borough, you will play a key role in supporting the provision of special educational needs (SEN) services and ensuring the smooth operation of the SEN department. You will provide administrative assistance to the SENCO and contribute to the effective coordination and delivery of support for students with special educational needs and disabilities. Key Responsibilities: Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the SENCO, including managing schedules, arranging meetings, and responding to inquiries from staff, students, and parents. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of SEN provision, including Individual Education Plans (IEPs), assessments, and progress reports. Data Management: Manage SEN-related data and documentation, inputting information into electronic systems and databases accurately and efficiently. Generate reports and statistical analysis as required, providing insights into student progress, intervention effectiveness, and resource allocation. Communication and Liaison: Act as a point of contact for external agencies, professionals, and stakeholders involved in SEN provision, facilitating communication and collaboration. Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding SEN support plans, progress updates, and relevant information. SEN Funding and Resources: Assist in the management of SEN funding allocations and budgets, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately to meet the needs of students with SEN. Coordinate the provision of specialist equipment, resources, and support services for students with SEN, liaising with suppliers and external agencies as necessary. Record Keeping and Compliance: Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and regulations relating to SEN provision, maintaining records in line with data protection and confidentiality policies. Support the SENCO in preparing for SEN reviews, meetings, and audits, collating documentation and information as required. Training and Professional Development: Attend relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in SEN administration and support. Stay informed about changes in legislation, policies, and best practices in SEN provision, applying this knowledge to improve service delivery. Qualifications and Experience: Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably within an educational or SEN setting. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively. Proficient IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and database management systems. Personal Attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders. Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and data management. Empathy, patience, and sensitivity when dealing with students with SEN and their families.
