Are you able to motivate and support service users in the early stages of their admission into secure services?
The post holder will work within the establishment of the ward, supporting service users' admission and during their progression on the ward. The role includes developing innovative ways to engage service users with complex needs and assessing service users prior to admission, including in external settings.
Your input will help set them up for their journey through secure care, providing a stepping stone to less restrictive environments.
About the Service
The service is dedicated to supporting the recovery of working-age males detained under both criminal and civil sections of the Mental Health Act. Our service users often experience severe and enduring mental health issues, acute mental illnesses, and may display challenging behaviors.

As a senior member of the service, you will:
1. Represent your profession and act as a role model, reflecting the trauma-informed care philosophy of the secure service and the wider organizational values.
2. Contribute to the service and trust strategies aimed at promoting recovery and addressing inequalities such as employment, education, and physical health.
Position Details
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to provide 12 months maternity cover. The post is within the Personality Focused Recovery Service inpatient team, working alongside multidisciplinary staff including mental health nurses, healthcare assistants, and psychiatrists. You will provide occupational therapy input to the clinical team.
The role involves supporting service users’ admission and progression, developing engagement strategies, and assessing individuals prior to admission in various settings.
