Overview
Exciting opportunity for a Project Manager, with experience in the construction industry (building fabric, building services and minor works), to join the Local Government, Healthcare and Education (LGH&E) team delivering programmes of lifecycle and minor capital works across multiple sites in Cornwall. The Project Manager will be responsible for the development and delivery of works in the most cost-effective manner, demonstrating value for money to clients, across Mitie’s portfolio. The successful candidate will identify and procure specialist designers and contractors as required, manage compliance with Mitie and client project delivery methodology, governance and gateway approvals, and take ownership of Health and Safety in line with Principal Designer and Principal Contractor duties. They will monitor and control all change in accordance with contract requirements. The position is mobile across Cornwall, with the ideal candidate based locally.
Responsibilities
* Deliver projects in compliance with the contract, governance, and Health and Safety legislation.
* Manage multiple programmes across a diverse portfolio.
* Ensure quality assurance and integrity of projects; manage budgets across locations with local Operational Team input.
* Facilitate appointment of Design Teams and Contractors; manage delivery to agreed quality, programme and budget.
* Maintain P&L/cost control for allocated projects; manage third-party contributions.
* Manage communications with internal and external stakeholders; manage risks to programme success.
* Report progress at regular intervals; review methods, materials, and processes to maximise profitability and drive continuous improvement.
* Develop and manage positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Proven track record of project development and delivery across pre-construction and construction phases for multiple projects or programmes.
* Preferably degree-qualified in surveying or a construction-related discipline.
* Membership of a construction-related institute (e.g. RICS/CIOB/RIBA/CIBSE/MIET/APM) preferred.
* Relevant Health & Safety qualification; knowledge of PFI contracts (preferred but not essential).
* Fully conversant with applicable legislation, regulations, and standards; able to produce programmes and cost targets and adjust them as needed.
* Ability to establish vision, influence others, and empower teams to achieve project success.
* Planning ability for projects and work programmes; capture and analyse stakeholder briefs; determine activity durations and interdependencies.
* Ability to tailor project processes to client requirements; proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project (desirable).
* Experience delivering multiple projects with values ranging from £1K to £2,000,000; capable of working at pace to multiple deadlines.
* Strong self-management and teamwork; proactive, adaptable, and well-organised.
Qualifications
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Able to pass a full pre-employment enhanced DBS screening.
* We may require enhanced DBS checks for working with regulated activities; compliant with Disclosure policies as applicable.
