Swindon’s Traffic Management & Road Safety team plays a critical role in managing and improving our highway and transport network, supporting our growing business and residential populations. Balancing demands and current and future transport needs through our policies, strategies, and works programmes is key to ensuring a safe, effective, and efficient highway and transport network to help Swindon achieve its potential.
Your next role
Joining Swindon Borough Council as our Senior Traffic Engineer is your chance to make a difference and be part of something exciting.
You will work as part of the Traffic Management and Road Safety Team to provide safe and effective management of Swindon’s highway network. You will contribute to the identification, prioritisation, and management of traffic management and road safety improvements in accordance with council policy and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities include accident analysis, scheme design, project management and coordination, stakeholder liaison, and applying national and local guidance and standards.
* You will have an HND/HNC or equivalent or compensatory experience in traffic or transport/civil engineering.
* You will have experience working with the public and key stakeholders related to traffic management and road safety.
* You will have experience in road safety, including collision analysis and the formulation and implementation of road safety schemes.
* You will have experience using appropriate specialist software.
You must be fluent in English (as required by Part 7 of the Immigration Act for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
