Qualifications & Experience
* Hold a computing degree or demonstrate increasing levels of exposure working with advanced server infrastructure and progressive levels of personal responsibility operating in complex production technical environments.
* Microsoft Certified Professional qualification or equivalent experience of managing all currently supported Microsoft server operating systems and databases that serve hundreds of users.
* Practical experience of successfully performing with a broad range of technologies.
* Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role.
* Extensive experience working in a senior technical team in a complex organisation with an IT estate comprising a significant number of on premise and cloud servers. Knowledge and experience of installing and supporting server operating systems and hardware including VMware ESXi in multisite enterprise live environments.
* Comprehensive experience of managing live Microsoft Azure, networks, storage, security, backups, system troubleshooting and their lifecycle management.
* ITIL V3/V4 qualification with experience of working in an ITIL focused environment.
* AZ-104; desirable: Microsoft Certified System Administrator and Microsoft Azure Administrator qualification or equivalent.
* Experience effectively contributing to department objectives.
* Experience successfully identifying appropriate communication channels to deliver information.
* Experience effectively contributing to organisational vision.
* Demonstrates a commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion at all times.
* Effective skills in using senior technical knowledge to impart information to a team that looks to this role for senior advice.
* Leads agile teams created to resolve specific support or development matters.
* Take initiative to own incidents from escalation to resolution seeking assistance from colleagues and suppliers to form effective matrix teams which the Systems Engineer leads.
* Strong organisation and management skills to co-ordinate support analysis.
* Demonstrable experience of managing and championing change successfully.
* Strong communication skills with proven ability to influence, negotiate and challenge.
* Experience making compelling business cases/reports to a range of audiences.
* Practical experience of virtualisation, servers, storage, databases, IP telephony and end user devices.
* Skills in many of the following: working at an admin level with Microsoft 365 Admin Centre, Security,
Compliance, Endpoint Manager, Azure AD, Exchange, SharePoint & Teams.
* Extensive experience installing and configuring Azure based systems, backup architectures and disaster recovery procedures.
* Excellent cyber skills, always viewing infrastructure, incidents and projects from a security perspective, proactively minimising risks.
