Associate Director, Translational Biology
CK Group, in partnership with Nxera Pharma UK Limited (formerly Sosei Heptares), is seeking an Associate Director for their Translational Biology Immunology and Metabolism group.
Company: Nxera Pharma is a technology-driven biopharma company focused on developing new specialty medicines to improve patient outcomes in Japan and globally, particularly in inflammation, neurology, and immunology.
Location: Cambridge, UK
The Role
The Translational Biology Team is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to understanding human disease mechanisms. The ideal candidate will be passionate about advancing therapies and biomarkers for metabolic diseases, with a proven track record in project leadership, CRO management, and executing preclinical and translational studies.
Responsibilities
1. Lead scientific projects by designing and executing work packages to support pre-clinical target progression, ensuring a robust translational framework.
2. Manage budgets, communicate risks, and report progress to stakeholders.
3. Identify new targets to support portfolio development.
Candidate Background
* PhD or equivalent industry experience in drug discovery.
* Expertise in molecular and cellular mechanisms of obesity.
* Proficiency in primary cell cultures/ex vivo assays and relevant mechanistic endpoints.
* Experience with in vivo models of obesity and metabolic complications.
* Leadership experience in biotech or pharma settings.
* Background in translational research with strategic planning skills.
* Experience managing outsourced studies with CROs or academic partners.
* Understanding of in vivo research legislation and experimental design.
* Strong organizational and data management skills.
