Job Description:

This role is responsible for specialist payroll support in the delivery of UK and Crown Dependency payrolls. It manages critical payroll activities to ensure accurate and timely processing, including gross to net calculations, supporting change projects, and administering legislative documentation such as P60 and P11D. The role involves managing escalations for the tier 2 payroll team, providing guidance and support for resolution.

To be successful, you should have:

* Extensive experience in payroll administration and support at an expert level.
* Strong decision-making skills considering policy, legislation, and operational performance.
* Proven success in driving process and procedural change initiatives from conception to implementation.

You may be assessed on skills such as risk management, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technological proficiency, and job-specific technical skills.

Purpose of the role

Manage payroll functions, including calculating employee pay, withholding taxes, deductions, maintaining accurate payroll records, and resolving complex pay queries.

Accountabilities

* Process payroll for various employee types, ensuring correct tax and contribution calculations.
* Administer and troubleshoot employee payroll records.
* Provide guidance to employees on payroll matters.
* Ensure statutory filings and compliance with government notices.
* Handle payroll statutory reporting and liaise with tax authorities.
* Perform activities timely and to high standards, continuously improving processes.
* Lead and support a team, fostering professional development and resource coordination.
* Demonstrate leadership behaviors aligned with Barclays values: Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship.
* Develop technical expertise and act as an advisor in your work area.
* Collaborate with other functions and business areas, taking responsibility for operational results.
* Escalate policy breaches, embed new policies, and advise on decision-making.
* Manage risks and controls, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.
* Understand how your sub-function contributes to organizational objectives.
* Make evaluative judgments, resolve problems, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
