Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially driven Content Acquisition Manager to join our film distribution team. This role is central to sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring high-quality content from producers, sales agents, and studios worldwide, with a focus on distributing films across cinemas in the UK and Ireland. The successful candidate will combine strong industry knowledge with negotiation skills and the ability to build long-term relationships across the global film ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify, evaluate, and acquire film content from international producers, studios, and sales agents.
* Negotiate licensing agreements and distribution rights that align with the company's strategic goals.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with filmmakers, production companies, and global content partners.
* Track film markets, festivals, and industry trends to identify upcoming acquisition opportunities.
* Collaborate with the distribution and marketing teams to ensure acquired films achieve maximum box office potential.
* Analyse performance of previous acquisitions to guide future buying decisions.
* Attend film festivals, markets, and industry networking events (e.g., Cannes, EFM, AFM) to represent the company.
* Manage acquisition budgets and provide accurate financial forecasting for deals.
* Work closely with exhibitors and cinema chains to match content with audience demand in the UK market.
Requirements
* Proven experience in film acquisitions, content licensing, or film distribution (theatrical preferred).
* Strong negotiation, contract, and relationship management skills.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Knowledge of global film markets, industry players, and emerging content trends.
* Commercial acumen with the ability to balance creative and financial considerations.
* Willingness to travel internationally and work flexible hours around global markets/festivals.
* Passion for cinema and deep understanding of UK audience tastes.
