A long-established independent education site set within extensive landscaped grounds is seeking a skilled General Builder to join its in-house Estates team. This is a varied and hands-on role supporting the maintenance and upkeep of a large and diverse estate, featuring both historic and modern buildings.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary estates department, contributing to planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and general building works across the site.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned and reactive building maintenance across a varied estate
* Undertake general building, paving, external works, roofing repairs and maintenance
* Support drainage maintenance including gulley clearing, gutter cleaning, and roof clearing
* Assist with erection and safe use of access equipment including scaffold towers
* Support the escorting of contractors on site when required
* Transport and distribute materials across site for maintenance activities
* Contribute to planned preventative maintenance programmes
* Work independently or as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently
* Maintain strong compliance with Health & Safety procedures (including COSHH, PUWER, Working at Height)
* Ensure high standards of workmanship, safety, and attention to detail at all times
Requirements
* Multi-trade building experience (general building background essential)
* Proven experience in maintenance or construction environments
* Ability to manage a varied workload across multiple tasks/projects
* Full UK driving licence
* Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
* Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements on site
Desirable (Not Essential)
* Experience within educational or regulated environments
* Knowledge of Building Regulations
* PASMA and/or IPAF certification
* Basic plumbing experience
Working Pattern & Benefits
* Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week - 8am - 4.30pm
* 5 weeks holiday plus UK Bank Holidays

* Christmas to New Year site closure (emergency cover only)
* Overtime and flexibility may be required depending on workload
