About the School

Reed is working in partnership with a new specialist school opening in 2026, which will provide education for children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Communication and Interaction needs.

The school will support up to 120 students across three sites and will operate as a nurturing, inclusive and aspirational learning environment, enabling every learner to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision, ethos and strategic direction of this new school before and after opening. Working closely with central services and senior leaders, you will establish a strong school culture and lead the development of an outstanding provision.

You will be responsible for recruiting and developing a high-performing staff team, implementing a bespoke curriculum aligned to organisational values, and embedding robust systems to support high-quality education, care, safeguarding and compliance.

You will hold overall accountability for educational outcomes, operational performance, financial management and the leadership of education and support staff.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and embed a clear vision and strategy aligned with organisational values
* Maintain and review the School Evaluation Framework (SEF) and School Development Plan (SDP)
* Ensure compliance with independent school standards and safeguarding legislation
* Lead quality assurance, audits, lesson observations and inspection readiness
* Design and implement an inclusive curriculum aligned to EHCP outcomes
* Promote positive pupil outcomes and successful transitions
* Recruit, develop and retain a skilled and motivated workforce
* Oversee effective budget, staffing and resource management
* Build strong relationships with families, Local Authorities and external partners
* Report regularly to governors on progress, performance and risk

Essential Criteria

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and NPQH
* Senior leadership experience within a specialist SEN setting
* Strong knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and safeguarding requirements
* Proven experience in curriculum leadership and school improvement
* Excellent people management and communication skills
