Overview
The role is for a Clinical Pharmacist (HEPMA split post) at NHS Scotland. NHS Lanarkshire is recruiting a highly motivated clinical pharmacist to work in a split post within the HEPMA Pharmacy Team and Acute Clinical Pharmacy Team at University Hospital Hairmyres. The position supports the NHS Lanarkshire Five Year Digital Plan, providing a link to clinical teams on the acute sites to realise HEPMA benefits, including clinical governance, medicine safety and prescribing. The post involves working with other HEPMA team members to provide training, ongoing system maintenance, analysis of HEPMA data and rolling out to remaining specialist areas including paediatrics and outpatients. The HEPMA team supports clinicians across the three Lanarkshire acute hospitals (Wishaw, Monklands and Hairmyres) and the off-site beds in NHS Lanarkshire.
The post holder will work in ward areas providing specialist advice to medical staff and multidisciplinary teams to improve and develop pharmaceutical services. The post holder will be an independent prescriber (or working towards) and will act as a mentor/supervisor for junior pharmacists and students on placements. Participation in the HEPMA on‑call rota is required, as well as a commitment to weekend and public holiday working within University Hospital Hairmyres.

Responsibilities
* Work in ward areas providing specialist pharmaceutical advice to medical staff and multidisciplinary teams.
* Support the HEPMA program, including training, system maintenance and data analysis.
* Contribute to the roll out of HEPMA to remaining specialist areas (e.g., paediatrics and outpatients).
* Collaborate with the HEPMA team to support clinicians across three acute hospitals and related services.
* Provide leadership as an independent prescriber (or working towards) and mentor/supervisor for junior pharmacists and students.
* Participate in the HEPMA on-call rota and commit to weekend/public holiday working at University Hospital Hairmyres.
Qualifications
* Masters of Pharmacy Degree
* Registered member of General Pharmaceutical Council
* Independent prescribing qualification or must work towards
* Evidence of postgraduate training and professional development in clinical pharmacy practice (e.g., Post Registration Foundation Framework/1st year clinical diploma)
* Relevant post-registration experience in clinical pharmacy
* Ability to monitor patients’ therapeutic regimens to ensure effectiveness and reduce toxicity
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a pharmacy and multidisciplinary environment
* Commitment to revalidation as per General Pharmaceutical Council directions
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Self-motivation

* Experience providing a clinical pharmacy service to a defined patient group
* Experience in patient information/education

* Project/practice research or audit skills

Location and working pattern
This role will be based in Pharmacy within University Hospital Hairmyres. The weekly pattern is rotational Monday to Friday with participation in the HEPMA on-call rota and weekend/public holiday working at University Hospital Hairmyres.
