The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. We have teams focused on clients in our three performance groups of Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team, working and learning collaboratively.
* Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors such as sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
* Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 businesses with strategic acquisitions, carve outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
* National Markets: We work across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds to grow local economies.
The team offers advisory services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, serving diverse clients and deals.
We focus on understanding historical tax issues, structuring transactions, and maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves multiple countries, taxes, and work streams, requiring collaboration across the KPMG network.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver high-quality advice
* Support business development through proposals and pitches
* Develop and maintain client relationships
* Serve as a primary contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams
* Coach and develop colleagues, fostering a learning environment
* Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
* Analyze tax-related documents, highlight key issues, and communicate their commercial impact
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, providing critical analysis
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership
The Person
* Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, with an interest in transactions
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
* Analytical, curious, with a commercial approach
* Excellent project management skills, team player, proactive
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
* Leadership and coaching abilities
* Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
