SEND Case Officer

Salary: £39,152 – £41,771 per annum (Grade 9) Pro Rata
Contract: Part time 18.5 hours

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Case Officer to join our SEND Team within Children’s Services. You will play a key role in the statutory assessment process for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are completed to a high standard and within statutory timescales.

Key Responsibilities
* Manage casework from initial referral through to completion of the statutory assessment process.
* Prepare, write and amend Education, Health and Care Plans.
* Liaise with parents, carers, schools, health and social care, and other agencies to ensure effective multi‑agency working.
* Attend Annual Reviews, Interim Reviews and emergency reviews as required.
* Prepare reports and documentation for panels and support decision‑making processes.
* Monitor the use of allocated funding within schools for pupils with EHCPs.
* Provide advice and guidance to schools and settings on statutory SEND processes.
* Support service development, including contributing to training and INSET for partner organisations.
* Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in all areas of work.
* Attending formal and informal mediations to resolve cases before they progress to SENDIST tribunal.
* Provide support to Senior Case Officers and tribunal officers in relation to cases subject to the formal appeal processes.
About You
* Has experience in SEND, education, or children’s services.
* Is organised, confident and able to manage a varied and challenging caseload.
* Has strong communication, relationship‑building and report‑writing skills.
* Works well with families and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
* Is committed to improving the educational experiences of children and young people with SEND.

* A DBS check is required for this post.
* You must comply with all Council policies including safeguarding, data protection, and health and safety.
* Flexi‑time is available in accordance with service needs.
* Casual car allowance applies.
* Hybrid working involving ‘on‑duty’ within the SEND offices.
