A Vacancy at Barking Havering and Redbridge Univ Hospitals NHS Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced dietitian to lead the dietetic management and provision of nutrition support to patients in the area of neurosciences (neurology, neurosurgery, neuro critical care and stroke services). The post-holder will manage a clinical caseload on the neuro critical care in addition to line managing and supporting junior dietitians in your team. The role involves working across both neurosciences and critical care specialties to deliver high quality nutritional care and contribute to service development across these areas. The dietetics team is well embedded and respected as part of the MDT, providing excellent opportunities for collaborative working, training, audit and research. Our department is actively involved in the education of other health care professionals and student dietitians, and as an expert resource on nutrition in neuroscience, you will be expected to participate in this training as well as the supervision and development of junior team members.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a good team worker, with the ability to use their own initiative and take a flexible approach to day to day working.

To work as a specialist Dietitian within the Trust by providing expert assessment, monitoring and support for highly complex patients requiring nutritional intervention by using evidence based practice and conforming to Best Practice Guidelines.

To take the lead when required in the development and provision of teaching programmes for Health Care Professionals across the Trust and be involved in the provision of nutrition support, in particular the key area of neurosciences (neurology, neurosurgery and neuro critical care). The post-holder will also support education strategies and initiatives to all Health Care Professionals throughout the Trust to raise the standards of care in the provision of adequate nutrition for hospitalised patients.

To manage a clinical caseload of patients on the neuro critical care in addition to line managing and supporting junior dietitians in the areas of stroke, neurosurgery, neurology and general medicine

Multidisciplinary team working, close liaison between acute and community teams, and highly developed skills in communicating with patients, carers, and other service users is essential.

Our patients are benefitting from ourWomens Health Hubin Ilford; anAgeing Well Centrein Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) atBarking Community Hospitaland atSt Georges Health and Wellbeing Hubin Hornchurch.

These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 88,000 scans a year.

The majority of our 8,000 staff who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many canwork flexiblyand more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accreditedapprenticeship programmes. Were proud to be aLondon Living Wageemployer.
