About Us:
Oakfield Short Stay School is Leicestershire’s provision for school aged children who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of permanent exclusion from school. We have expanded the age range of Oakfield School and as a result we are recruiting staff. Our Secondary Inclusion Partnership staff who did put provisions in place for secondary aged children and young people who have been excluded from school, or who are at risk of this, are have recently joined the team. Therefore, you will be part of a vital team in an exciting period of development, working with us to meet the needs of children and young people between the ages of 11 and 16 who struggle to manage in mainstream and need a different offer of education to secure their successful next steps.
About the Role
Role Overview: This role is to lead the Behaviour, Attendance, Pastoral and Belonging strategy in the Secondary phase, to create a provisions that delivers a flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed education and interventions, to raise engagement and drastically improve the outlook of every student’s educational journey. You will be at the heart of our mission. The role would suit an experienced Leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can inspire others. Many of our young people present with challenging behaviour, and we are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong empathy and ability to intrinsically connect with pupils with complex SEMH needs and lead staff in delivering an educational offer that enables them to overcome barriers to education and re-engage in their education community with their peers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and Inspire: Strategically Plan, Implement strategy and lead teams of staff within a large and complex setting that spans different geographical areas.
2. Support Reintegration: strategically create systems that enablethe reintegration of pupils back into mainstream schools, ensuring they receive the support they need and equipping them with the skills they need to be successful.
3. Collaborate with Agencies: Work closely with educational psychologists, school leaders, SEN coordinators, and other external agencies to support pupil progress.
4. Accountability: To develop and implement school level accountabilities and analyse strategy impact both internally and within the wider context.
5. Promote Inclusion: Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:
11. Several years of leadership experience in a Secondary setting. An NPQ qualification is preferable.
12. Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs in a secondary school, secondary pupil referral unit or special school
13. Experience of leading Pastoral, Attendance and Behaviour Specialist teams.
14. Experience of working with challenging pupils.
15. Experience of educational development and planning.
16. Ability to provide strategic direction and development on pastoral, attendance and behaviour development and current issues.
17. SEN legislation and county SEN policy and procedures
You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
