Job Title: Kitchen Assistant at HC-One
In your role as a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you’ll value one thing above all: kindness. It carries across every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Every single person who works here understands that our Residents are people just like them with their own stories to tell. By joining HC-One, you’ll have a wonderful opportunity to give something back to those people.
As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities will include helping to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that our residents will love. You’ll demonstrate the highest standards in cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Whether maintaining food supplies and fridge/freezer temperatures, showing new starters how to use equipment, or cleaning up spills, you’ll always prioritize Resident wellbeing.
HC-One is looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience. You should have either an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation, or be willing to study for one. Good record-keeping and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to follow recipes. When communicating with Residents or colleagues, kindness and consideration are paramount.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of possible abuse, harm, or neglect, and know what actions to take if concerns arise. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and undertake additional training as needed. You should also be able to seek advice and report concerns appropriately, including escalation if necessary.
We’ll provide full training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you will enjoy a wide range of benefits and support for your physical and psychological well-being, including:
* Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications
* Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
* Free uniform
* Nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
* Company pension scheme
* 28 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays
* Group life assurance
* Wagestream for financial wellbeing and flexible pay access
* Learning and development opportunities, including support to achieve qualifications
* GP online service for round-the-clock GP consultations
* Opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues within a supportive team
* Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores
* Access to free Employee Assistance Programme for support on physical, mental, and financial issues
* Recognition schemes such as ‘Kindness in Care’ and Long Service Awards
