Mission: “Our mission is to continue our journey as a trusted provider of innovative roofing and cladding solutions, upholding our commitment to quality, safety, and client satisfaction. We are proud to support national infrastructure projects and create buildings that enable communities and businesses to prosper."
Job Overview:
We’re looking for a highly skilled CAD Technician to join Streamline SW Ltd, a trusted name in commercial and industrial roofing and cladding across the Southwest. This role sits at the core of our project delivery, responsible for producing accurate, detailed construction drawings that support every stage of our work — from tender and pre-construction through to build.
Based in our Exeter office, you’ll work closely with the project and commercial teams, playing a key role in design coordination, client support, and overall project success. You’ll also help shape and grow our in-house design capability, with potential for leadership as the department expands.
Key Responsibilities:
* Produce accurate, detailed 2D construction drawings using AutoCAD, supporting all phases of a project from tender to completion.
* Interpret and develop architectural and structural drawings to meet roofing and cladding design requirements.
* Collaborate closely with Contracts Managers, Estimators, and Project Support to ensure design outputs align with site conditions and programme requirements.
* Lead or assist with site surveys where required, to gather information that supports accurate, buildable design and drawing outputs.
* Support tender submissions with outline design proposals, technical input, and system recommendations.
* Provide pre-construction support by developing buildable, sequenced drawings that integrate with structural and architectural packages.
* Work alongside site teams to respond to drawing-related queries, technical challenges, and revisions as projects progress.
* Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to incorporate system details and product specifications accurately.
* Maintain drawing records, revisions, and version control in line with project requirements and industry standards.
* Attend internal project planning and coordination meetings, contributing design insight and identifying potential design risks early.
* Assist in building out our internal design capability — helping shape systems, templates, and workflows that support future growth.
* Stay up to date with relevant design standards, material specifications, and innovations within roofing and cladding systems.
* Maintain a proactive, solution-led approach to problem-solving, ensuring design issues are resolved efficiently and practically.
Key Requirements:
* Industry Experience in Roofing & Cladding: Solid background in commercial or industrial roofing and cladding, with a working knowledge of system build-ups, interfaces, and practical detailing on live sites.
* Construction Materials & Methods Knowledge: Strong understanding of modern construction techniques and materials, particularly those used in building envelope systems, to ensure practical and buildable design outputs.
* AutoCAD Proficiency: Advanced capability in AutoCAD, with experience producing accurate and coordinated construction drawings under tight deadlines and across multiple project phases.
* Digital Platform Familiarity: Experience using Viewpoint for Projects and Field View is highly desirable, with a broader understanding of how digital tools support project documentation, drawing management, and site communication.
* Microsoft Office Skills: Confident using Excel, Word, and Outlook to manage documentation, schedules, and client communication.
* Technological Awareness: Interest in evolving design tools and digital workflows, with a mindset geared toward improving process efficiency and collaboration through the smart use of technology.
* Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, consultants, and site personnel.
* Organised & Detail-Oriented: Highly organised, with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple drawing packages or deadlines across various live projects.
* Resilient Under Pressure: Able to stay calm, focused, and solutions-oriented during busy or pressured project phases, maintaining accuracy and consistency in outputs.
* Proactive & Quality-Driven: A mindset focused on continuous improvement and getting things right first time, someone who takes pride in their work and actively contributes to raising design standards across the business.
Streamline SW Core competencies
